What is Spaetzle? Is it pasta? Is it an egg noodle? Is it a dumpling? These questions have been asked since the beginning of time. Well not really. But I found myself asking that question and figured I would share the knowledge. Because the more ya know, ya know?
Spaetzle is translated literally from German as “little sparrows”. And is definitively a type of soft egg noodle. As you would guess, it is especially popular in Germany. Spaetzle dough is made mostly of egg, flour and salt. And it’s totally vegetarian-friendly.
Spaetzle can be made into many different forms and served many different ways which makes it quite the versatile dish.
